seam allowance question

I need to raise the underarm portion of the armscye by 0.5 inch on a dress I am making.  I made this measurement from the raw edge of the armscye, so when I set in the sleeve, it will be 5/8" lower.  Do I need to add 5/8" to the amount I raise it to account for it?
