@Iminei  Each participant gets a piece of fabric from each of the other participants.

They then make up a 12.5” block for each of these fabrics, using own fabrics in addition to the gifted fabric.

These blocks are then returned to @RJR_38 who collates all the blocks and forwards the participants all the blocks made with their own fabric.

The participants can then make up a quilt using all the blocks returned to them.

@Iminei it helped me to visualize by laying out seven plates (representing each boomer), and assigning 9 pieces of candy to each (if you have seven diff colors of candy all the better, or just use bits of paper) to represent the F8ths.

Walk through the steps of "mailing" them, redistributing them to plates (so now each plate has 9 pieces of candy, none of which were their original candy), and mailing back. Then every plate ends with their own candy again.

This was my package! (My parcel?) You can see I received six different fabrics. I got three doubles, and I received none of my own fabric back. In total I have nine fat eighths.

Also you can say hi to my old dog Hooch, who is not allowed up in the sewing loft, but I can't stop him from snoozing by the sofa.  :loveit:

@whofilets explained it perfectly! In an ideal world we would have more participants so there would be no doubles but if we do it again maybe there will be more people.

This is where I got the idea from - I'm going to have a look at creating our own page this weekend to display the photos

I have been auditioning my fabrics with the F8ths received.

@whofilets  you have requested star/space themed fabric for your block.
I have some space/planets printed fabric, but it's a fine viscose jersey.  If I stabilise it with iron-on interfacing will that be acceptable for a fussy cut centre to the block or will the quilt police have a hissy fit and prefer me to stick to conventional woven cottons?

@BrendaP I'm definitely not the quilt police but I did plan to send my finished quilt to a longarmer! But lots of longarmers are used to jersey on interfacing bc of t-shirt quilts, right? I think it'd be fine  thanks for letting me know :)

@whofilets  Thank you for that reply.

That patch will probably be just marginally thicker and the top surgace slightly softer than most craft cottons; much the same maybe as a bit of brushed cotton fabric which I've used in the past without problems.

Your fabric, @Catllar was the same size as every else’s.  And very pretty, too.
