Did anyone else having planned their quilt and bought fabric last year go ahead and sew it during lockdown?

Yes, I made one. I ended up giving it as a gift and then made a second one, which has been sitting on the shelf for about a year.

How big is one of these quilts? Having reviewed my summer wardrobe I have no need to make anything more, so thought I might try a quilt.
I don't have any quilting tools but would be willing to acquire a few. I have in mind to make a quilt for our bed but thought I ought to work up to one of that size!

@Starryfish . I think it is suggested the quilts are supposed to be lap quilt/ comforter size, about 40” square, but people make them all sizes and I think Project Linus are very happy to take them. You can look at their website for information. It would certainly be a good ‘practice’  quilt  for you. :D @Iminei may also have more details.

Yes, they usually fall within the parameters of 36"  to 4 8"
Mine are usually......the size they turn out at  I'm aiming for 36" x 4 2" if I remember correctly

Not sure where mine is.  Well, it’s in the sewing room somewhere.

I got my top finished before I had to pack everything away.  I do know where it is which is more than can be said for a lot of stuff.

I recall earmarking a piece of animal fabric, and I'm sure I haven't used it for anything else so I'll have t hunt it down.

I'll sit this one out - I don't think it's really feasible for me from here.

I’m hoping to submit the one I did last summer. Is there an address to post it? I used shark fabric, a pale yellow and spotty blue. I struggled with some of the blocks but I think I’ve definitely improved in the last year with all the BOM practice. I will need to find it and take some photos.

I bought a fat quarter bundle last year, intending to make this quilt. The colours don't look right on the screen but you get the gist.
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I hunted high and low in my sewing room last week, and eventually found where I'd stashed the bundle. However, a few of the FQ's don't work in my intended design, plus I need extra of the penguins and yellow foxes, and I want borders, backing and binding, so I had to order more fabric.

I found a shop on Etsy who sell the penguins, foxes and a matching chevron so I ordered those. The other fabric I ordered from my local quilt shop, but ... rant alert ... why oh why does it have to be so expensive - £15/metre minimum. I know I can afford it so I'm probably being a skinflint but it annoys me when I see people posting about cheap dressmaking fabric they've acquired from various places, but with quilting cotton it's almost impossible to buy anything of decent quality at less than £12/m. Rant over!

Hopefully I can complete this quilt in the timeframe allowed. If not, I'll still post pics but donate it to my local Project Linus. I'll do my best. :)

When is the deadline for these?  I thought there was oodles of time but at the moment my sewing machine will take some unearthing.  I know where the quilt top is but no idea where the backing fabric is stashed.
