Well done, that's lovely.  Glad you have found an answer to your quilting problem.
A couple of quilts back I changed my machine half way through quilting it.  The old machine had never missed a stitch, the new (same make, labelled a 'quilting' model) all singing , all dancing machine, kept skipping stitches when I was FMQing.  It seems to be very picky about thread and doesn't like the cotton quilting thread.
Life's too short for ironing.
