Julys Junket ... Festival Finds Re-found ... EXTENDED
« on: July 04, 2021, 09:50:49 AM »
We've all got them lurking around the house ...
I went upstairs and without even trying found THREE kits
and ONE unfinished festival workshop project
(and know if I rootled around a bit I would find more  )

So for July and August we have

Festival Finds Re Found and Made !!!

Unearth those
I must have that kit / make that workshop project
from the shows and exhibitions,

Complete them and make space for new buys!

Show us your proposed make/s, post your progress pics and

at the end of August we'll have The Grand Reveal of the finished item/s !!!!

This is a brilliant idea but I think I need a year not a month, what is it about exhibitions that make you buy something you love but either don’t have the time, energy or use for when you get home. Nearly everyone I know says the same.

Off to check the stash

I'll kick this off (again! the last post disappeared into the ether )

So I went upstairs and found these ....

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

TWO Deborah Hare Quilt Route Kits;
Theyre simple enough applique makes but I just love her hand dyed fabrics, she always adds just a lil bling!!

ONE Sashiko Wallet kit;
Gifted to me by one of you kind ladies here (shamefully I cant remember who  :| ) which I really should get onwith

and not one but TWO unfinished workshop projects!!

And Yes, Lowena I know you think I never finish anything but I did finish this workshop creation

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

which I turned into a cushion cover and which now resides at Sakars home in Austria, so Yar Boo Sucks!!!!)

So plenty to get on with ... Watch this space!

I buy books rather than kits.  The patterns/designs/ideas filter through but not necessarily immediately and not always in a readily identifiable way.  I think I have have only one darkside UFO at present and that's a long term project to use up scraps.
Brenda.  My machines are: Corona, a 1953 Singer 201K-3, Caroline, a 1940 Singer 201K-3, Thirza, 1949 Singer 221K, Azilia, 1957 Singer 201K-MK2 and Vera, a Husqvarna 350 SewEasy about 20 years old. Also Bernina 1150 overlocker and Elna 444 Coverstitcher.

I know I have one unfinished kit, but I'm not sure if I have the courage to actually look through the cupboards to see what else is hiding.
Bernina Aurora 440QE, Brother BC-2500, Singer 99K (1938), Juki MO-654DE overlocker, Silver Viscount 620D overlocker.

:| I've just dug out my unused kits. All were bought from the FoQ. I don't think I have any more hiding away anywhere.
I must have had some of these for 6 or 7 years.

Daughter's just noticed the felt snail kit...I think she's going to have a go at that one.  She also said she liked the koi carp kit but I really like that one and intend to do it myself one day.

Not sure how many might get done. Maybe none.  -<
It depends how busy I am with work.

I'm thinking that I have a kit from ? years ago.  It's a stuffed bird.  Maybe...if I can be distracted dragged away from making the clothes that I desperately need.

I have indeed @Iminei  :)

Out of all the items you can see, that's the one I've had for the longest time.  :S It'll get done eventually. It just needs to marinade in the stash for a little bit longer.  0_0

While we are all still thinking about it  :[ my daughter's made a start on the felt snail.

It's larger than I remembered. The body is about 14 inches long from nose to the tip of the 'tail'. Not sure exactly how tall it's going to be when it's got its shell on.

She's done several small felt craft kits before with blanket stitch joining them together. This is the largest item she's attempted.

...and this is where she's got to today.  :)
She's been sitting quietly, sewing happily since my Dad visited this morning and she put the needle down by about 5 o'clock this afternoon...so that's about 6 hours work from her.
Go Gertie!

Ooh that's going to be gorgeous!  She's obviously a chip off the old block - lovely stitching.
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

The stitching's fab isn't it? I love how neatly she's done the circles.

I doubt if I'd have done it any better. I hate hand stitching.
