Leather key holder

T'Other Half wanted something to stop his keys making holes in his pockets, so after a bit of research, I came up with this.

It is actually a sludgy green in real life.

That cutting mat has been on my sewing desk for many months - why was it only yesterday I noticed it's upside down?

That's an excellent idea, @Bodgeitandscarper. My husband always has holes from his keys but as the bunch he has holds all the brewery keys and the pub keys as well as the house and van keys I would need one extra big pouch!!

My cutting mat is on a top that I can access on three sides so I'm used to it being every which way!

@Bodgeitandscarper I use my cutting mat every which way to avoid making all my cuts in the same area.

That is very good @Bodgeitandscarper it looks like quite sturdy leather. Your embroidery machine has done well to get through that.  I bet your OH is happy.

@Lilian It's actually very soft leather, so not sure how well it will last.

My dad had one of those in the 1970's.  Worked a treat.

It's lovely @Bodgeitandscarper I think it was the visible grain that made me think it was firmer.

I'm curious about the strap bit. Belt hook? Or. Keyring holder? Or both?

Have you considered using longer stitches of around 3.5 - 4.5mm? I found on my earlier leather sewing that the longer stitches look better.

@Bill The strap bit slides out to pull the keys inside, then you un fasten it again to let the keys hang out.

I used a 3.5 stitch length, but yes, I may try a longer stitch, that's a good thought.
