Good morning to all you happy sewers ...
Is it sewers, sewists or something else entirely
Thank you for accepting me to your lovely community, I stumbled onto this place by accident and am looking forward to delving into the many topics that are here.
I've been sewing on and off for many years (right back to school when I managed to sew my nightdress onto my actual skirt - but hopefully I have improved since then) but bought my own sewing machine back in 2010 when some friends and I decided to attend the Regency promenade that kicks off the Jane Austen festival so obviously we would have to make our own dresses.
I think it is fair to say that I have had a few mishaps along the way, but have definitely seen some improvement since the first dress I made on my own; although my time keeping skills haven't improved as I was still hemming this years dress the night before we were due to travel down by train (yes we travel down via Reading to Bath in full regency attire, bonnets and all)
I was bought an over-locker several years ago which I am still terrified off and may actually use in anger one day, once I've worked out how to rethread it properly.
I also have competing hobbies in that I knit, crochet, cross-stitch and have the occasional foray into cake decorating but I try to limit to two at one time: I am currently sewing (apart from more casual clothes) I am trying to work out what to wear for a Secret Cinema Bridgerton inspired event - which luckily has been moved to March from November and cross-stitching an Aimee Stewart Designed cross-stitch which at approx 700k stitches will keep me out of mischief for some time yet.
I am looking forward to getting to know you all better
Happy stitching All
