I hope so @Bjay it's the quilting I am worried about, this is the first big quilt I have ever made. I don't know how I will get it under my machine  :faints: I would like to try free motion but have never done that either.

@Lilian  ... THAT is Beautiful ... such a fresh look with the white background! Brava Lilian!!!

You are like me, I have the bedroom window wide open all night every night unless a major hoolie is throwing rain in (It doesnt the wind blows across the front of the house, not toward it!)  and I never have the heating on ...

Autumn weight will be in the description of the wadding such as Empress Mills Kahtadin wadding which is what I prefer ...

I am however working my way through a full roll of wadding from a Doughtys roadshow (I will never have to buy wadding again) but EM's 3 metre offers are very good value and if I had no wadding this is what I would choose ....

Regarding quilting it .... If you are sashing your quilt you could QAYG it in 2, 3 or 4 more manageable pieces using the sashing strips as the joining strips.

There is a QAYG tutorial in the Darkside tutorial section and plenty of help online.

The only difference from the standard QAYG method, which typically uses 1" front joining strips on the front and 2" strips on the back, would be the width of your strips and to remember to allow a lil more wadding at the edge of the sections you are joining to avoid having an 'empty' gully between the joined sections.

Practice with a couple of wadded squares beforehand to get the idea of it before joining sections of the quilt.

Thanks @Iminei the background is a bit overblown on the photo, it is actually a tiny white flower on a cream background.

I have ordered the wadding as per your link  :)  I really want to try quilting it as one piece. I will use my singer 201k as it is a flatbed in its own table.  I will practice first on some spare block that I have.
My knees tremble at the thought  :faints:

I too am procrastinating the layeration of this quilt (mine not yours)

Its a bit like doing the washing up after a roast dinner (Not that I do that anymore)
the thought is usually worse than the deed.

But first I need to find/piece the backing

I'm going to Spain tomorrow so maybe I'll find a patchwork emporium somewhere from where I can get some batting

I think this is the one I'm doing - 6x4 as it seems to have more practical uses but I like the 5x5

I’m thinking this sort of layout.
Am considering sashing options.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I played around with layouts all day, yesterday, but it wasn’t until I pictured it on this thread that I noticed the left hand green square is different to the other green squares. Sigh.

@fajita that is going to be stunning, the contrast is wonderful. I wouldn't worry about that green square, it took me a while to see it after you mentioned it  :)
