Ottobre Dress 10-5-21

I bought the latest Ottobre magazine last month, and decided to make this tiered dress.

It is too short for the look I was after and also the bodice ended too high for my present figure. I added 1 1/2" to the length of the bodice, and then laid out all the pieces of the three tiers of the skirt on my 2.5m length of teal viscose print. In the end I think each tier was about an inch longer. The pattern doesn't have pockets but I wanted at least one. Laying out the scraps I managed to squeeze enough for one.

I'm quite please, but may have made it slightly too long now. It will be an easy fix if I want to shorten it.

Quite pleased?

I’d be dancing in the street if I made something so beautiful.

Your version is so much nicer than the one in the magazine photo. It looks great on you!
My first reaction to the dress shown in the mag was the same as yours. The bodice seam looked too high and would be very unflattering. It cuts right across the bustline. Also that style of dress looks much better in a longer length. Your adjustments have been very successful.

It's lovely and suits you very much. I like the fabric choice too? Is that a fabric that is still available?
I quite fancy a dress in it too (slightly different style but similar ).

The adjustments are just right I think.

I think it's excellent when your version of the dress looks nicer than the pattern picture!  Much nicer!  <3
