@Bill if you have stabiliser big enough to go in the hoop you can lay the fabric on and baste it to the stabiliser.

I've a 10x7 but I've not a piece of fabric big enough to cover it
Another day maybe  :)
If you have some stabiliser, tack your fabric onto a big enough piece, hoop that, then remove the extra when the embroidery is done. Doh - just seen someone already suggested this.  What a great mind you must have @Ohsewsimple !

I'm short on stabilizer too. In fact, it's not even stabilizer...its fusible watchamicallit. I'll get more supplies when Christmas is over.

Hooever, I haz bin bizzy.
I've got me a copy of embird 2003! Yes, it's 18 years old!
So I've been watching tutorials and stuff and been trying to cram it into a faulty brain and then trying to remember stuff. But, I have done my first 'Start from scratch' embroidery file
I picked a love heart coz it's an easy enough shape with just enough curves and whatnot to make it interesting.
The edges and finish are a bit rough, but it's progress  :D
Done without any form of stabilizer.

If you're not bothered about the backside (!! :|) just use firm scrap fabric as stabiliser. It doesn't have to be fancy stuff, fleece scraps are good as is cotton. Cut away what you don't want afterwards.
So many beers, so little time.

Oooh, digitizing as well now?  Well done!  I've never tried from scratch, I'm just not artistic, but I do use Embrilliance for making (very) simple changes in designs.

Thanks, @Bill , that's a lovely design!  I'd seen a poodle one, but it didn't look very poodle - that one is very poodle  0_0

Started yesterday and finished today. One of the little pouches I'm remaking for the bikes tools. Perfectly done I think...
