Pale blue leather bags
« on: November 29, 2021, 09:41:05 AM »
I've been saving this beautiful pale blue leather until I knew what I really wanted to make with it.  Here is the first item, a small make-up bag, copied from a larger one I have.
I haven't lined it as I actually love the back of the leather, but that does of course mean that you can see the stabiliser in the embroidery, but it's only that will see it!
The embroidery is actually white and two shades of very light blue, I absolutely love how it's turned out.

There will be two more bags (for different uses) in the next few days - hopefully.

Wow Bodge that is lovely. The embroidery on the leather is such a good idea and so well executed.

As it neared the top of the grade, it went more slowly. However, it still kept saying, "I—think—I—can, I—think—I—can." It reached the top by drawing on bravery and then went on down the grade, congratulating itself by saying, "I thought I could,  I thought I could."

I love the embroidery on the bag and those colours are ideal. Well done, a good make.  :thumb:

Thank you everyone  0_0

Now this isn't blue, but it's a trial for making one in blue.  I got lots of this brown leather very cheaply, so it's ideal for testing designs.  I have to line it yet, and I forgot I need to put loops/rings on for a strap, but I can add those easily.
I have also discovered that you can iron interfacing onto leather, but I still think I want the blue one to be a little stiffer.

Also, I enlarged the embroidery a little, to as big as would fit in my 8" x 8" hoop.  That meant I had to calculate the length of the sides/gussets.  The original design had them embroidered as well, but even in the two halves, they were too long for my biggest 8" x 12" hoop, so I left them plain.
