No need to scarper - there's nothing bodged about those.

I can't say I've any use for a make up bag but those are impressive. Well done  :)

@Bodgeitandscarper those are stunning!  I never thought about embroidery on leather. Was it hard to do? Do you need a special type of needle?
You can't scare me. I taught high school for 32 years.

@Sara-S It's possibly easier than on fabric!  I used a medium weight cut away stabiliser, and just the normal needle.  I hooped the stabiliser then used temporary spray adhesive to float the leather on top.

Speaking of temp adhesive spray, I've realised that you need to spray it on the stabiliser, not the leather/fabric, as it stays sticky on the one you spray it on, but not sticky on the fabric when you peel it off - if that makes sense!

A question - white or blue zip?  I think I prefer the white, but is it going to get grubby on a hand bag?

I think I prefer the blue just because it's different. White zips are everywhere.
Will white get grubby? Hmm. Depends on how much use the bqg will egt. Where it'll be used. And of course, how mucky your paws get.
I wouldn't worry too much to be honest. My big tent had white inner door zips and they didn't really look grubby even after 5 years use.

I like the white. You have white embroidery thread so pulls it together.

Finally got the bits for the strap - next time I'll remember to sew the strap in rather than having to rivet it on as an after thought.

That's lovely. I like the rivet, it looks right with leather.

It's riveting. Sorry.
I like the rivet too. It looks more 'professional'.
