Sorry for the unclarity @Ploshkin  I meant for allcomers .... Hopefully a range of projects achievable by all, as long as they can sew a straight line and measure 1/4 inch  :D

Hey Bill! Read the manual!  Hehehe.

I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

@Acorn That's a pretty pin cushion  :loveit: I don't possess one  :faints: how on earth do i not have a pin cushion when i sew? My pins are currently on a magnetic pin tray all bundled together and i'm frequently stabbing myself when i grab a pin, another project to add to my ever growing list  :)
I’m a fabricholic on the road to recovery. Just kidding. I’m on the road to the fabric store.

What about coasters/mug rugs/pot holders/placemats to practice a new technique or pattern? Or just to use up any spare blocks left lying around.
So many beers, so little time.

@Acorn I just love how they finish that off with a matching fabric covered button. That would sure simplify it. No worrying about how tidy that intersection where everything meets is. Clever.

@Renegade Sewist Yes!  Most people will say 'Did you cover that button yourself?  How clever!' and you can think 'Not as clever as hiding my wonky points!'

A simple block of FPP for those who have never done it before would be good - something to let us learn enough to know whether it really is the devil's pastime!

There was an occasional FPP BOM.  We could add to that.  Maybe we could each take a turn.  I love a bit of FPP.

When I did the blocks for The Quilt I Didn't Like,  I had never done FPP before and I sailed straight into it.  It's a bit like painting by numbers, with added ironing.  Really recommend giving it a go.

I must have half a dozen pincushions but I don't use them!  I keep my pins (and a thimble) in small tins and use them from the tin.  I do always use berryheaded pins for sewing, much easier than fumbling with tiny heads.

Even with the lacemaking I prefer to keep pins stuck in the lace pillow rather than a pincushion, which is fine for lengths of 'yardage' lace but not always practical for braid laces which are worked in all directions.
