Border or no border?

Border or no border?
« on: January 19, 2022, 14:22:41 PM »
This is the state of play of my current quilt.  I'm not feeling the love for it at the moment.  It's been laying out for a few days but I still don't know what to do with it.  I know I don't want big borders so it's really a toss up between one narrow border or just binding.
For a narrow border I have available enough of the white sashing fabric, the big spotted fabric (I think) and a purple fabric that is the dark one in the centre of the lower quilt edge in the picture.
If I did a border could I use the sashing fabric for a border or would that look weird?

Binding - but preferrably a darkish colour.

For me it needs a border - either white with a dark binding, or possibly even two narrow borders with a tonal contrast in the border binding. It's a lovely quilt.

I would have a border of the sashing fabric, and a binding as dark as the blue and purple in the quilt.
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

I think the same as Acorn. The combination should really see off the blocks :)

Yep, get some dark happening at the edges somehow, a frame will make it 'complete' visually :) Lovely work

 I like a border on a quilt usually. I’d say a light border or two tone as others have said, with a dark binding. In addition to framing the pattern it will also make it a bit bigger and a better fit for a double bed. It’s lovely and being so multicoloured, it should be very versatile. <3

A border could work.  I’d go with the dark purple.

My gut reaction was a dark border with the blue spotty but I'm no expert.

I think a narrow border using the sashing fabric and the dark purple for the binding. Is is goung to be used on that bed size?
Willing but not always able :)

That is BEAUTIFUL. I think a sash and binding in purple would be gorgeous!
