Really like that stitching @Bill poor stitching can spoil a whole project, and people do notice.

It's all down to the machine which is simply brilliant and the Gutermann extra strong thread that @Mr Twingo introduced me to  :D

@Bill tips for sewing fold over elastic on to mesh - do not make your elastic very much shorter than the mesh, it just doesn't need to be.  Put some tissue paper under the bit you're sewing, it feeds through the machine easily then and you just tear it off afterwards.

I'm throwing in the towel. This is not going well at all. F all is lining up as it should.
Unpicking now to 'maybe' start again.

During the cutting out and sewing of the various bits pretty much all had to be 'trimmed' in one way or another and so each following piece met the same fate. By the time I got to sewing on the net pockets they were 3" too deep despite having been cut to the exact size they are on the plans.
Huge balls up.
It's all been destitched and consigned to the bin.
Starting again from scratch in a bit.
Me + measurements = catastrophe    :S

Right! 3rd attempt. No sooner had I started assembling the flap pocket when disaster struck.
Linen from an old piece of furniture was yesterday's choice of fabric. I started to press the seam in preparation for topstitching the zip when something weird happened. The linen melted. Aaarrrggghhh! It's friggin polysomethngorother!
So that idea was scrapped.
The remains of an old bedsheet were all that I had in sufficient quantity in a colour I wanted (off white) so that's being used currently. Done the flap pocket and have just topstitched the real fake leather. I knew something would go wrong. It's inevitable.

@Bill
Speaking of pockets, have you read the instructions for the end zip pockets?  Good luck with them!!  I think I'll make it up as I go along!!

I think Mrs H must have been drinking something strong when she wrote these!

It does kinda make sense when you actually do them - but that bit about the zip tab thingy - not a clue!!  Did that my own way!

I got the tab section done after reading it countless times and lots of head scratching.
All was going well until I sewed the lining onto the outer panel. Don't ask me how, but I've beaten @Bodgeitandscarper 's zip cockups. Mines inside the panel!

Edit: never mind. I figured where I've gone wrong and it's a colossal screw up and no idea how I'm gonna fix it. I'm out of spare fake leather. Erm.........

Just unpick it all @Bill , and re-sew it.  Some of my leather was unpicked and re-sewn twice and it was ok  0_0

Umm... Erm.... Well this is kinda where the word 'colossal' comes in. You know the instruction to trim the seam allowance before turning the end panel right side out? I trimmed it to within an inch of its life. Then the zip fabric started to unravel. Sort of like that part in terminator when the nuke blows up and people sort of disintegrate. That.  :faints:
The stupidest cockup in sewing ever. It'll go down in history. They'll dedicate a national holiday to it. "Bill killed a zip day"
