Ahah!! The wall hanging was based on a quilt I saw in a book yonks and yonks ago. Lots of curved piecing but also some applique. The fabrics are all old things that have emotional meaning for me - silks and scarves that belonged to my mum, mostly. There is a lot of surface stuff added to mask mistakes add embelishment and some skeleton magnolia leaves that were the inspiration for the colours used. There's a bit of Indian beaded silk net just because it's pretty. I prefer to work free like this = you can see why blocks aren't my favourite thing to make.
The runner is purely me, made long or short strips and added HS to some and then just alternated them, stitched em up end to end then folded in half long sides, stitched again, cut the loop and repeated till it fit the space I wanted. had to make one additional strip as I'd miscalculated. Bagged it out with a remnant of grey/black and Robert is the brother of your father!
