Thanks everyone. I took it round to them last night and as ‘instructed’ by DH, didn’t admit to it being the result of a mistake. As baby’s mum doesn’t knit, she was most impressed by the flowers and was glad to get it as my little granddaughter is growing fast! Think I was lucky that the mistake yarn was quite a definite cream, nearly a pale yellow. Moral of the story is- always tidy out knitting bag of previous wool , before starting a new project!
