Hello from Schleswig - Holstein

Hello everybody!
My name is NorthStar & I live in the state of Schleswig - Hostein in Germany where the weather is as wet, windy & overcast as in the UK. So a person really needs good indoor hobbies here.

Both my Grandfather & my Great Grandfather before him were both tailors way back when. So I've got sewing in my DNA ...or at least I hope so!

But when Covid hit here in early 2020 I caught it straight away doing disinfection work in a hospital.

Anyway the time off allowed me to complete my first indigo cambray long sleeve shirt with collar stays. That was really complicated enough but I also gave it two pleated pockets like what you see on a pilot's shirt but these were narrower for a calculator or SmartPhone.

Now I design & sew all of my own clothing & do all my pattern drafting myself: 2 long sleeve office shirts, 3 trousers, 3 sweat shirts, 2 long sleeve T-shirts & many other small projects too.

I have 7 sewing machines including my MerryLock Overlock & Coverlock. My main sewing machine is a W6 N1235/61 (I think they are also built by Tsang Yu in Taiwan who also produces MerryLock as well as several other well known brands).

At present I plan on making an English shooting jacket out of Harris Tweed but I still need to dream up a pattern & could use any ideas you have on this topic.

Cheers!

Hello and welcome to TSP @NorthStar , you certainly have been busy. I started making all my clothes myself because the discounters don't have my size latetly. I need more room in my shoulders so that's a 3XL. And now I have good trousers that fit straight away too.

Hello and welcome  :D
As it neared the top of the grade, it went more slowly. However, it still kept saying, "I—think—I—can, I—think—I—can." It reached the top by drawing on bravery and then went on down the grade, congratulating itself by saying, "I thought I could,  I thought I could."

Jessie, who is very happy to be here!!  :),  but who has far too many sewing machines to be healthy, and a fabric stash which is becoming embarrassing.

Welcome.

I presume pockets will be a cental feature of this jacket? Lovely, roomy gusseted pockets....

Oh yes, I love pockets a lot!
I already have the velour leather for the elbow & shoulder patches but I'm still holding off on buying the Harris Tweed until I know more what I'm doing. (I could practically buy a new stove for our kitchen for the price of this project.)
