So I've recently come across the concept 'blenders' in quilting.
Ie Spray effect prints etcetera
What else counts as a blender and why is it better than a plain solid colour?

I think anything that reads as solid from a distance.  It is better because it’s less “flat” than a solid.

Plains will show every little wobble. Textures even quite gentle ones will distract the eye from the 'unique' bits. ;)

Ok that makes sense. I'm going to try overdying a previously gone wrong dye effort to make a sort of mottled blender for the background if the 2021 jewels quilt.

I nearly always opt for blenders ratehr than solids.

What counts as a 'blender'?   Anything that's a small (ish) print in just one colour; maybe two or three very similar colours together, and which reads as solid from a distance.  Here is a random selection (all from Doughty's website)
