Scrub Gown - Wear Update
« on: April 19, 2022, 18:46:38 PM »
Hi folks, I'll use this as my first actual posting something I've made previously. Anyways, this scrub gown was made a while back now, not long after the first lock-down (wife works in daycare). This was used for the daily morning intake of kids, then washed & dried for the next day. So let's say it has been used/worn a fair bit which left me asking myself how it was holding up to the abuse. Here is a few pics before ;

Then here is a few after about 19 months of use;

I like what I see to be honest, can't complain at all. The fabric used was a linen cotton blend (30%linen/70%cotton) and the thread is Tex27. The seam edges were done with a Singer 401A with an overcast foot which have held up better than I thought and the rest of stitching was done on my trusty Singer 15-91. Best of all, I scored some brownie points with the good wife  :thumb:

It's one of those fabrics that, if decent quality, gains a bit of character with washing and wearing.

It's very nicely sewn. I'm particularly impressed with the topstitching around the cuffs because I have a top, linen with stretch cuffs, that required that, and after placing it on my machine in several different ways, I just gave up because my hands don't have the strength or dexterity to keep everything where it should be and do a nice job of it.

@Diane Yes, the wife was pleased with it. Also had a work colleague ask for one also  :rolleyes: thankyou for the kind words.

@Ohsewsimple that's the best part for me, seeing how well it's held up  :thumb:

@Ouryve Agreed, nice to see how the fabric holds up and now I can record it also  :D As for the cuffs, time has made me forgotten the joys of adding them but I won the battle that day  :vintage:

Much thanks for the comments, gotta show the kidda as she just rolls her eyes (until she wants something that is lol)

If it washed daily or even weekly I must say it's held up well.
