When you realise that old machine will do what you want

I've been searching for a machine that will sew leather bags (soft garment? leather) as even the old Husqvarna Viking was struggling the other day, the motor didn't seem to have enough "welly" sometimes and I had to turn the handwheel to start the needle off into the leather.
I've spent an hour or two this afternoon veering from one idea to another - then I had a sudden thought.  I remembered that a good few years ago (probably back in the eighties!) I bought my Elna 3003 because it would sew through loads of layers of denim.
I kept adding layers of leather, including a couple of layers as a kinda strap attachment, and got to a total of six layers, four plus the two of the strap bit, and it didn't skip a beat, not even when sewing over the humpy bit  :o :o

I think I can stop looking for another machine now.

It is amazing how well some of the older machines work, it is always lovely to find an answer in something you already have, well done. :loveit:
