Unless you are desperately in need of extra storage space, I think I would rather have one with an adjustable back than one with limited storage in the seat.

What about the Horn one @Diane , might be expensive but I bet it's comfy and you can choose your colour.

I'm going for the Jaycotts chair but I think there is only one colour.  All my previous ones have come from work when they've had a refurb, so the one I have now is 22 years old, no wonder the back acts up sometimes.

Don’t think that one looks that comfortable @Diane and do be careful with the castors my new one https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08BNVXHM7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1   is ok but I don’t think it’s as stable as it could be, don’t think I would buy it again but I was looking for something not too big as it is in my lounge too.

Him in doors had a horn chair some years ago and we bought it because he wanted something really comfortable as he used it all the time, unfortunately it wasn’t as good as it should have been especially for  the price.  I am sure they are different  now so probably irrelevant.

Ooof! How much?

I have the Ikea Flintan chair, although I see that's now gone up to £70.  The one thing I don't like is the castors only roll when you're sitting on it, but not sure if this is how all new chairs are now?

@Bodgeitandscarper I've just had a look at the Flintan chair, i like the beige one and the fact that it has a removable washable cover and it would blend in quite well with my decor.

Can I suggest that you sew with the chair that you already have and or any others to compare and to see what you like or don't like about it @Diane.

Don't forget your sewing position will be different from what it was previously. In other words get used to your machine and your Horn cabinet before getting a new chair. I'd also suggest you try similar chairs, maybe you have an office supplies shop relatively close. I stuck with a boring looking chair for many a year because it was comfortable, the main thing!

The first one didn't look comfortable to me. I'd forget about storage in a chair, it's for sitting on!

I think it’s better to buy a chair in person to make sure it’s comfortable.  I’m in the market for a new chair for my sewing room as I didn’t move my old one which is probably more than 30 years old.  It had a cloth seat that had pilled over the years.  The padding was also flattened over the years so not all that comfortable. Besides I needed something to sit on in my mostly empty house after the movers took the rest of our stuff.

While there are some furniture stores in my new little town they seem a bit on the cheap side so I may have to go to an office store in the next larger town over or possibly all the way to Nashville.  In the meantime the office chair will roll back and forth between two rooms.

I've got one similar but there isn't enough support for my back, I spotted it in a skip I was walking by one day. Thinking it would save me moving my good high backed office chair between machine tables, I asked if I could have it and was told to take it. I do use it occasionally but only for jobs I can do in a few minutes.
Save your money and get a chair with an adjustable back and seat, you can always make a brightly coloured cover for it  :thumb:

I'd be finding a shop with chairs I could actually try before spending some pennies ... but I am known to be a tight bugger  Some things I don't like to order online (unless I have already know the brand/model before and it's cheaper).

All my chairs have been seconds or donated so far  0_0

I would agree with finding a shop you can try them in but these days that is not possible for a lot of us, don’t get me wrong you can go to ikea if you live in the right place but the old specialist shops that had lots of chairs to choose from  are few and far between.

I've managed to find a couple of places near me that stock office chairs, i really need to sit on it before i buy one but as Helen M suggested, i'm going continue with the chair i have at the moment and see how i get on although i do like the look of that Flintan chair that @Bodgeitandscarper has.
