Help with neck edge please

Any ideas on how to finish the neck on this mesh top please?
The bias binding isn't working however I fold it.  Have I done it wrong?

@Bodgeitandscarper , I've just looked at four different tops, and all are finished differently.  The bought one, has satin binding, but folded over to the front, then stitched.

Two are drape necks and the one which is more of a cowl, I have left unfinished inside.  The other which is a shallow drape, is just a very fine hem.

The last is a Burda t shirt style, and I doubled the binding, sewed to the right side (O/L) and pressed it up, it looks good.

Yours looks more difficult, because of the over lay design.  Could you unpick come of the overlay to get yourself a piece of flat self binding to work with?

If you would like pics of my tops, I can do that.

Thank you, @b15erk .  I did think about unpicking a bit of the embellishment, but they aren't bias so wouldn't work very well as binding.

I might even try and cut some of the mesh on the bias and try using that, but first I'm going to cut a spare piece and try the overlock and turn in method I think.  If I alter the differential feed on the overlocker to very very slightly pull the edge in, then maybe it will sit flat when I turn a hem in.  Oh, no, thinking about it, that won't work, I'd probably need to stretch it a tad, or not, I dunno now!

This top used two different methods.  Self Binding o/l'd round the neck edge, but the sleeves were just o/l'd and turned.

Could you use a fine interfacing to stabilise the neck edge before turning?

That looks nice, I may try similar, more a neckband rather than binding.

Or a self fabric facing?  Does it need to stretch much?

Material like that, I would do a very narrow self facing, cut by the body pattern but only about 2cm wide. Overlock the bottom edge, stitch to outside, trim, turn in and edge stitch and top stitch from the outside.
Yarn down:  650g
Fabric down:  7. 25m

It is a wide neck, so doesn't need to stretch at all, but I wouldn't like the look of a facing with it being sheer.

@toileandtrouble that sounds like a possibility, I'll have a look at that tomorrow.

Thank you for all your ideas  0_0

Could use silk organza for a narrow facing.  That would almost disappear.

I've done it!  I cut a facing  sewed it on  the cut and overlocked to 5/8", understitched, then topstitched at about 3/8".

Much nicer than the heavy bias.
