Update for August. Not too bad for me.

  • 5.1 meters sewn
  • 41.85 meters donated
  • 5.15 meters bought

Some of the fabric I bought has been used or will be used in the next project. Some will be used later this month. And some will be sewn this winter when I don't travel as much to the quilt shops. I have a tub in the sewing room that I am putting scraps into for the quilters guild to use in their charity quilts.

Since purging the fabric stash, I have been focusing more on sewing what is left in the stash. It is nice to feel that way rather than feeling like I must sew down the stash. I haven't finished cleaning the sewing room but will slowly work on that once the outside work is done. With cooler weather I have outside jobs I need to do.

This month I have sewn 4.5 meters of fabric which is great as I did a doll's 3 piece outfit that included a jean jacket. I have another 3.5 meters cut out and ready to sew. I hope to have the projects done by tomorrow night as they are an easy sew. I'm making DD's cat and 2 dogs paw shaped Christmas stockings. The cat's is done.

The left over pieces of fabric will become gift bags. I need to make 2 for DDIL's and my cats to hold their gifts. I'm thinking of embroidering something on them.

Well done @Ann  :D
I do know my stash has reduced as I have two empty boxes but I forgot to write down what I used and what for.  A lot was playing with GS1 and corsets but for the life of me I have no idea how much!
As it neared the top of the grade, it went more slowly. However, it still kept saying, "I—think—I—can, I—think—I—can." It reached the top by drawing on bravery and then went on down the grade, congratulating itself by saying, "I thought I could,  I thought I could."

I ended the month sewing 8.5 meters of fabric and bought 2 meters for a quilt.

The dog's stockings are done and I am happy with them.

Don't think I will be making anymore of these. Though a fairly easy sew, I'm done with them. The two cats will get gift bags which is more appropriate for them. I will use the scraps from the stockings for them though.

End of October tally is done. I sewed 4.05 meters of fabric and bought 0 meters.

I have to buy fabric in November. I need batting and backing for the cardinal quilts as the blocks are done. I also need fabric for a gift bag and a lunch bag. Will try to get them all at once so I won't have to go into the quilt shops for a while. I am still working on sewing down the stash I have left. My sewing time is shorter now as I have to walk most afternoons as part of my strengthening program. I am working on getting my muscles strong for when I will have to have my right knee and hip replaced. It will happen but I am hoping to delay it for at least a year. I see my doctor every 3 months and can get a referral to the specialist when I know the time is right.

I am behind as I thought I had posted for November. I sewed 4.6 meters and bought 3.8 meters. I bought the backing for the cardinal quilts and some fabric to make gift bags. I sewed mainly from the stash though I did use up fabric for one gift bag I had bought the fabric for.

I have a small amount of Christmas fabric left and it is tagged to make gift bags next year. I would like to make 2 - 3 a month until the fabric is gone. I can make one in an afternoon unless I do embroidery on it. I do something else while the embroidery stitches out. I would like to see no Christmas fabric in the stash by the end of 2024. I did well sewing it down the past 3 years and having all the old pieces gone will be nice.

I am not sure how much I will get sewn before Christmas though I do have 4-5 gift bags to make. Once they are done I will close down the sewing room to finish cleaning it. I want to have it clean for when I start sewing in 2024. Life is still busy with at least one appointment a week for my hip and knee and then a few others thrown in for blood work and the doctor. I am hoping to start walking on an inside track in January so will have to fit that into my schedule.
