Official Notice

Because so many of our participants are ill with covid (or awaiting fabric)
I have unilaterally extended the JUNE FLASH MAKE

for an extra two weeks!

Thank you! The covid porridge brain won’t cope with sewing but I really want to finish my tile block, so will get it done next week (covid allowing!)
Get well soon to all the other covid sufferers x

Yes thank you.
My panel has been sitting waiting for me to work out how to put the walking foot on the machine, which the covid porridge brain is struggling with.
(I have been doing bits of sewing though, just easier things)

HELP!!

Pie crust border!!

I know its because of the bias edges of the checkerboard block (altho' those are lying beautifully flat)  but after unpicking one side and resewing with a lil more tension on the border the problem is the same!!

Cant post a pic at the moment as my Ithing seems to be having a hissy fit!

HELP!!! Would it help if I sewed the border on to both the top, wadding and backing????

Any ideas???

This is beginning to cheese me right off!

@Iminei  I'm no expert by any means but how about adding some iron on stabilizer to the bias edge before attaching the border.
I’m a fabricholic on the road to recovery. Just kidding. I’m on the road to the fabric store.

@Iminei   If it's the wrinking in the border that is bothering you:

Unpick and take it off.
Press the column of blocks taking care to get them as square as possible.
Measure the length of the panel down the centre.
Cut the borders to be the same length as the centr of the panels.  I'm pretty certain that you will be triming a bit off them.
Re-attach the border and it should lie flat.

Crisis Averted!

I recut the borders ... Im thinking that the fabric wasnt cut completely straight at the beginning (from the shop) as I lost 1/2" at one end.
I ironed them after cutting and cut to length 38 1/4"

The blocks were lying beautifully and I decided to 505 the layers and then, using a WF sewed the borders down the length through all 3 layers.

It went fabulously and there's not so much as a wrinkle!

Tomorrow I will be doing some simple quilting and then bind. Hanging sleeve and a tassel if I can find a nice one to match and Roberts your mothers brother!

I've completed one place mat and should have another done before midnight so will have skidded in by the original deadline. Two to finish next time I have a night in front of the telly.

Meanwhile, in the sewing room, I'm experimenting with a design for the centre mat which is to be 8 x 16 ins finished and is requiring 8 flying geese, among other stuff.  For some reason, despite having chapter and verse on how much to add, I'm still having several goes to get it. Blaming the workmen drilling the outside of my house all week.

Well, I thought, they're only small, so I just got on with them.
And here's a not-too-great photo to prove it  ;)

Oops, didn't notice the dog hairs when I took it!

They've all been quilted differently.
