Stitching problem - Janome QC6019
« on: July 01, 2022, 15:49:46 PM »
Does anyone know what's causing the problem with the sample stitching attached?
The top is ok, but the underneath (bobbin) side is very loose.
I'm using the same thread in bobbin and spool.
This machine had previously been used for quilting - I don't know if that  is relevant.  [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Any help most welcome...

The obvious things, all of which I've had to do with my janome, at some point :

Fresh needle, suitable for the fabric, in case that is affecting the timing.
Re-thread, making sure the bobbin is in the right way up.
Re-wind the bobbin.
Try different thread and see if it's replicated.
Janome M50QDC - "Jane" - Small, cute and hard working. Pfaff Quilt Ambition 630 - "Pfanny" - Pfickle. Bernina L450 - "Bernie" - Very hungry. Bernina 830 Record - "Becky"

Strip machine back and rethread.  It looks like a top thread tension problem.   Make sure the presser door is up before threading.
As said, make sure bobbin is in the right way.  Put presser foot down.  Give a gentle tug on needle thread to ensure there is tension there.

Another suggestion is to get a piece of bias binding and gently run it back and forth between the tension discs.  If there is any small piece of thread/lint there this helps.

This might help machine review/problems

It seems it has a few little quirks!
I have learnt by my mistakes: Sewing machines now are Bernina 720, Bernina 1008, Bernina 801 from 1981, Brother overlocker, ancient but works well

Although your top thread looks ok from the top, you can see it's actually looping a bit underneath, so the top tension is too loose.
