No pressure!
« on: July 04, 2017, 10:29:18 AM »
Well now, I need 180" of 2" wide fabric for some columns. I have the exact colour I need, no other colour or shade will do...it's that simple, and I can't match it with anything available in the shops as it's an "old" purchase. So, did I mention I need a pieced column/s of 2" width totalling 180" in length???   Did I also mention that I have, on my calculations (BEFORE adult beverage consumption) of 181"!!!!!  :o :o  Eek..no pressure, no pressure at all.....pass the red and a rather large glass please.

....and the dusting and vacuming can wait!

That's what is known over here as "squeaky bum time". Delightful turn of phrase I've always thought!  :x

Jessie, who is very happy to be here!!  :),  but who has far too many sewing machines to be healthy, and a fabric stash which is becoming embarrassing.

Haha, so I forgot to allow for squaring up my bit of fabric before cutting my strips...yikes....and this dear friends is "honest-to-God" what I was left with....how's that for sailing by the skin of your teeth!!!!

But guess what...it gets even better..........I hated the colour after all that! I've just spent the last hour and a half unpicking it all and tomorrow will replace it. Funny, I was so sure it was the right colour; looked fine pinned up on the design wall/"clamped-to the wall flock plastic table cloth" but once it was all sewn together it just looked wrong. Ah well, time for an adult beverage, or two!  0_0  Hmmmmm where's that nice red fabric I bought a while ago...I'm off to rummage.

Oh dear, I just don't like it...what can I do? All the rows are sewn and I don't fancy unpicking everything...maybe some creative slicing and repositioning? i need to sort it out before I attach the red border. Any ideas?? Maybe with the red border all around it might get a bit of a lift??????

Remember Rubes, it' not for you but for your friend. If she is a traditionalist she'll love it. I think it's very pretty and feminine. Well done you  <3

Thanks Lowie, you're right of course. But what about a second border using the floral to give it just a bit of oomph and contrast to the plain-ness?
