I have a leaflet/brochure, inherited from a dressmaking tutor in the Adult Ed college where I used to work, outlining the history of Husqvarna sewing machines.  It dates from the 1970s, possibly to celebrate the centenary of their first sewing machine although that's not stated anywhere.  Could be useful if you want to date a Husqvarna/Viking machine.
Brenda.  My machines are: Corona, a 1953 Singer 201K-3, Caroline, a 1940 Singer 201K-3, Thirza, 1949 Singer 221K, Azilia, 1957 Singer 201K-MK2 and Vera, a Husqvarna 350 SewEasy about 20 years old. Also Bernina 1150 overlocker and Elna 444 Coverstitcher.

Very nice leaflet, I should try and print it out. I see Husqvarna was a year or two later than Bernina 125; introduced just after the war. I like the early zigzaggers, the 50s models 19, 20 and 21 have strong motors, are speedy compared to many current models, and still do very well as a basic machine. I have hesitated a bit on the 60s models with stretchy stitch patterns, since replacement timing belts can be hard to find, if they need it. Owners still like them and use them. I wonder how many who choose and older machine and actually use it. On a local sewing forum some members have kept older machines, but only use the new one. I'm sticking to my 201 :- )
