Block of the Month - September - Strip Stash Buster
« on: September 01, 2017, 13:16:44 PM »
It is September,
the month of mellow fruitfulness,
a time to take stock of supplies and to ready yourself for the colder months,

and I present to you....

The Strip Stash Buster

This block will use up all those leftover strips from other projects ...
or that purposefully bought Jelly Roll that just jumped in your bag as you toured your local Emporia ...

It is also a very quick make (chain piecing is an excellent way to put this together)
I already have a Quilt top ready to be layered, quilted and bound after only a couple of days work on it.

As ever click on the first pic, the destructions will be to the right of it.
If not click on the i icon in the top right of the pic!

I've had a go at this, my first venture over to the dark side...

And after wondering what I did wrong I've just realised that I cut the C pieces half an inch too short so looks like I'll be unpicking and replacing them tomorrow. At least they're relatively simple to replace.

Oh heck,  I'm getting behind here.  I've got the FPP block waiting by the machine, followed by a stippled sandwich and now a BOM in the queue not forgetting the mystery quilt to finish.  I think we're in for a spell of wet weather so should get a chance to catch up once I've finished DH's shirt.
Life's too short for ironing.

That's a very nice block, Sonatine. :)
Interesting to see how it looks using just the two colours.

I've been wondering how to tackle it and have been trying to imagine it in a more restrained colourway. I don't fancy making a big one, and I think a small, simple block will be easier on the eye if the colours compliment each other.

Oh.... and welcome to the forum.

Sandra.

I've finished mine this morning.

Spent far too long messing about trying to decide on fabrics for this one. I changed my mind umpteen times but decided on this fabric. It's from a Moda scrap bag...the fabric range is '30's Playtime'.

I finished this today.  I've made four but not sure why.   :[
I love the scrappiness.  (The seams are straighter than they look on the pic.   :P)

That looks do'able, Imi.
When burying threads I thread both of them through a needle and pull them through.
Nice work.

This is my September block, made with scraps around my machine. Didn't even need to leave my seat.

Obviously, the main green doesn't 'go' at all. But it was scraps around the machine. (Excuses, excuses).
