Online fabric shops new thread for 2024

A new member has asked the perennial question, where do you buy fabric online. As the previous thread was started in 2017 and getting very long, I think a refresh of this topic is due.

Please recommend any stores you think are good, for whatever reason, and if possible mention in general the types of fabric supplied. ie Quilting, dressmaking, upholstery, etc.

Many thanks  :thumb: :thumb:

I've used this site in the past (although the stash is such that I've not done so in a while).  It has the benefit that they will send you a sizeable swatch (think A4) for a smallish charge so you can feel before you buy.  Then you can convert the swatch into bunting or some such!

I have recently bought some knitted fabrics from Pound Fabrics in Birmingham, and I am delighted with these, don't be fooled by their title of 'Pound', my fabrics were £9.50 pm, £7.50 pm, and £5.00 pm.  I noticed the £5.00 one in Lamazi at £16.00 pm.  I laid these out on my bed and they look perfect, so fingers crossed I haven't missed any noticeable flaws.  I presume these were end of production runs.  Also I ordered on a Thursday afternoon and received my parcel on Saturday afternoon, so excellent service.

Like others I do miss being able to go and see and feel fabric, however I have a massive stash, but of course this time I wanted some knit fabrics and I haven't used this type of fabric really since crimplene days i.e. over 50 years ago, so I have taken the plunge and just hope that when this fabric is made up that I am pleased with it  So far I am pleased with this.

Also being new to today's current knit fabrics, Pound Fabrics give a description of the fabric, what sort of stretch it has, and also laundry instructions, and on their invoice there is a small coloured photo alongside the description, yardage and price.

Might be worth making it clear that this thread is for U.K. based stores?

With the fiasco that is Brexit, probably not much point me posting any European sites?

Thank you for contributions so far  :thumb: :thumb:

I will assemble a simple list when there more to add.

Good idea @WildAtlanticWay to be clear which are UK based.

Croft Mill - often have 'end of lines' from big manufacturers.  I've always had good quality and good service from them and found some unusual fabrics, reasonably priced.
Life's too short for ironing.
