Now that I've had my moan....
« on: November 03, 2017, 12:42:28 PM »
Had a big moan about Chinese delivery times on another thread, so here is the balance side, and the best reason to order from this country.

ohsewcrafty.co.uk  An ebay company, ordered two pieces of fabric, free delivery, ordered the 1st November, delivered on the 2nd!!  Well done them,  and the fabric is lovely too!

Helen Howes: Ordered bits for my overlocker, and even allowing for the fact that I amended the order twice, I received the package yesterday - and everything is perfect!

So, it's not all bad - just the bits from China!  ;)

I ordered from Pelenna Patchworks ( 2 lots of wadding ) on Tuesday at 11.30am. Parcel arrived on Wednesday. Ordered 2 cushion pads from a UK EBay seller and they too arrived the next day. :)

It’s great when companies exceed our expectations, and I for one look to buy from them again and again.

I ordered some interfacing from William Gee late on Wednesday afternoon, it arrived Thursday lunchtime.

I'm sure this will surprise nobody, but Jaycotts - I ordered a selection of machine embroidery threads at 8.30pm on Wednesday, and they arrived today.  There was no way they could have got here sooner.   :D

(And let's not forget the excellent prices and low delivery charge!)
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

Interested to know if the parcels came via the Royal Mail.. I know Jaycotts do they are great.. I've also had next day from the English Couture company
I ordered from Creative Grids on Wednesday and received an email from UK Mail saying they would deliver yesterday lunchtime.. they didn't ,,another email this morning and the parcel arrived in the time slot predicted but was a very damaged parcel .. even though it was covered with fragile stickers :S  I ripped it open before signing for it .. I also notice that Creative grids had paid for a 24 hour service

I think UKMail have taken over from Yodel as the worst courier firm.  A few weeks ago they left a parcel in the middle of our drive, alongside the road, in the pouring rain even though they had clear instructions to leave it in the porch if there was nobody in.  Previously they broke our parcel box by forcing something into it that was far too big.

Yodel, on the other hand, managed to take 10 days to make a 24 hour urgent delivery because they decided everything in our address was wrong apart from the house name, and tried to deliver it to a house with the same name about 12 miles away.  Having failed at that they then just sat on it.

I have Amazon Prime and so get lots of parcels via DPD. I have a lovely young male courier who is unfailingly helpful, cheerful and chatty ( as much as he can be with the time restraints ). I feel quite Mumsy towards him  :D
P.S. when he's not on duty the other "lads" are equally efficient and cheerful  ;)

Yes - same here.  DPD drivers are lovely - and very efficient.  Amazon only seem to use UKMail for heavier items, thankfully.  Our Hermes courier is brilliant, too, as is our postman.  The Royal Mail is usually very reliable indeed.

I have just started getting Amazon packages via DPD and so far (touch wood) all has been fine.
We have a good Hermes chap for our area - hope he stays.
