Although I am now wondering ... what is 'melange' fabric??

(yes Mme Cholet, being pretend French, knows that melange means mixture... but I have never heard of the term describing fabric before...)

I looked it up a while ago as I was looking at some jersey described this way.  Oooh I thought, new type of fabric.  Nooooo.  What used to be described as marl.
