I've just been to Hobby craft to buy some thread and they said the 50% off sale starts tomorrow.

I just bought the one reel I needed for tonight, might have to go back tomorrow :D

I heard that they have some good ottlights on sale at very good prices; I think I will hie me hence to Hobbycraft tomorrow!

:( No Ottlites on sale but their Really Useful Storage towers are a good price, so if I can get one in the car I think I might buy the FQ sized one! :)

I never think of Hobbycraft at all because I can get the stuff I need cheaper all the time.

Just stocked up on sulky and sew all thread.  I am not sure whether I have enough room for anymore.  I will need to find some more shoeboxes for storage I think.

The nearest Hobbycraft is 20+ miles away so any savings would be taken up by petrol to get there. Thank goodness for my local haunting/hunting ground that is Abakhan.

My nearest Hobbycraft is 25+ miles away in Maidstone so I don't often go there.  They do occasionally have good bargains, on one occasion I got a load of Regia sock yarn for less than half price.

As for getting bargains at Abakhan or Immanuals - I've never set foot an any of them.  Why are they all up north? :'(

Brenda, you will just have to have a holiday in Lancashire! Why are they up north? It might be something to do with the former textile industry (says she, clutching at straws). Also some are in what I would guess to be fairly cheap premises to rent.

On the other hand, London has Goldhawk Road :P :P and Woolcrest in Hackney and other places I daren't visit for fear of serious wallet depletion!

If we go that way it's Warrington (Cheshire now but was Lancashire until 1974) and that seems to be the only town up there which doesn't have one of those Aladin's caves. :\

Oh dear, 4 days since this was posted so I'm not sure if they'l still have many of the biggest Gutermann reels left. I'm not desperated but a couple more of the basic colours will keep me going for ages.

I don't go to Hobbycraft to find bargains either but the 50% off Gutermann sale isn't matched elsewhere in my experience so is well worth the 9 mile trip to my nearest store as we often go past.
Hopefully back more regularly! Ballroom sewing may be permanently paused but bag making is the current focus.

I bootled down there to collect a magnifying daylight lamp for £20, (which I had ordered online, as it was out of stock in store)

(which I was disappointed in when I realised it wasn't an Ottlite as I had believed*),

and with my 15% off voucher I had received when ordering that ... I added

a Gigantic Really Useful boxes rainbow tower for £28

and Six 1000m reels of Guterman in basic colours for £4.50 each !!!!

Sorry, Marnie, I might have snaffled the last of them!

* My disappointment soon faded as just after I got in with my booty, Mei managed to dislodge her necklace once more and I (almost) effortlessly managed to put it back together using the light and magnifier ...something that usually necessitates a visit to the jewellers!!!
