FREE - boxes of tiny pins anyone?

:pin: Among the ephemera in my latest purchase are some pins.
D F Tayler Adamantine - 'LILLS' - very short! Approx 5/8" long, I don't know what you'd really use them for?

Here's a link to a pic, not mine but this is the box type.

The boxes are said to contain 1/4 pound, so a bit on the heavy side to post. But a full box, pins in good condition.

If someone would like them for something they do that needs tiny pins, post here and PM me  :)

They’re probably for appliqué. Trims and sequin strands and the like, where long pins would have a lot of excess.

Traditionally lills were used when making the types of bobbin lace where the pins are pushed right down into the pillow - mostly the sectional types of lace like Honiton or Duchesse where one section is completed but left pinned in place on the pillow until it's time to connect another section of lace to it.

Because they are tiny they are also used for fine 'heirloom' type sewing and yes they can be used for applique because they are short.  Nowadays also used for things like pinflair where they are used to attach sequins onto polystyrene.

In other words they are used for anything in which a short pin would work better than a longer one.

Thank you both  :)

I do make lace, but haven't used anything this short. If no one wants them here perhaps I'll take them to a lace day.

Thank you.

There are TWO boxes of pins - I'm not sure I made that clear - so still one available if someone would like them and use them?

I’m tempted... I aspire to more decorative sewing and they sound useful for that, but I also have sewing hoarding tendencies... so if someone else has a definite need. Then I won’t come between them and micro pins :)
