My second self-drafted ballroom dress took to the floor on Sunday. A few hiccups with the odd caught heel in the hem - I didn't trim off all the crin gathering thread!  :S

Forgiven by my DGD who loves how it looks (she's been really craving a plunge back) and was happy enough with a second place. The next comp is in two weeks so I'll be going through the crin with a magnifying glass.

I modified the sleeve head as discussed with @Catllar & others some months ago and can report that it worked really well. It looks very tight when the arm is down (which it never is when dancing) but I'm told it doesn't feel at all uncomfortable. The underskirts were an upcycled purple tulle skirt that I made a couple of years ago and the navy stretch lace combined to make a lovely intense colour.

Pictures in the gallery.

Hopefully back more regularly! Ballroom sewing may be permanently paused but bag making is the current focus.

That is so beautiful - both dress and dancer!  Wonderful job.

Jessie, who is very happy to be here!!  :),  but who has far too many sewing machines to be healthy, and a fabric stash which is becoming embarrassing.

That’s fabulous! So pretty (both girl and frock!). Great colour, lovely shape and nice stoning.

And what was your solution for keeping the back neat?

Oh what a lovely dress you have made for your granddaughter – you must be justly proud of this, and I am sure your granddaughter loved wearing this as well.  Looking forward to seeing the next dress.
