The Sewing Place

Thank you for accepting me. I like to sew for myself and my Grandchildren. I am self taught using YouTube and attending some courses. I am struggling to sew with Jersey knits so I am thinking of buying a Cover Stitch machine. I have a sewing machine, overlocker and an embroidery machine all Janome.

Hello and welcome :-)
Please ask when you need help, especially with those pesky jersey fabrics.  (I love my overlocker and my coverstitcher for jerseys).

Welcome from me too!  Questions are welcomed here, and there's always someone here who can help.

Knits are much easier if you use a ballpoint or stretch needle in your machine.

Look forward to seeing some of your projects.

Jessie, who is very happy to be here!!  :),  but who has far too many sewing machines to be healthy, and a fabric stash which is becoming embarrassing.

Hello and welcome from me to our playground. :pin: :snip: :sew:. I discovered that I could sew jersy a few years ago and haven't looked back. If you live anywhere near Mostyn pick up a piece from Abakhan and try a basic t-shirt, that's how I started. I still haven't really got to grips with my coverstitch and revert to a twin needle in frustration at times.

I've heard coverstitch machines can take quite a lot of getting used to. I really want one though, I remember how much the O/L sped things up for me and I imagine a coverstitch does the same!

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome, gailjo.  I hope you enjoy being part of this forum.  I am sure that you will find plenty of help and advice here.    (It won't be from me, though, as I wouldn't recognise a Jersey knit if it hit me.)   :)
