Hi gailjo and welcome from me too.

There are a few of us who have coverstitch machines and there are already a few discussions on them your will find in the Overlockers and Coverstitchers section under Machine Talk

I love mine and use the chainstitch for sewing up toiles almost as much as anything else.  It's great because it's much more secure than simple basting but it pulls out even faster.  :D  I only got my first overlocker in 2014 and can tell you that I've found using the coverstitch, bought 2 years later, much more intuitive than I did the overlocker at first.
Hopefully back more regularly! Ballroom sewing may be permanently paused but bag making is the current focus.

Welcome to the forum!
Coverstitch machines are easier to thread than overlockers.  But you don't NEED one to work with jersey.  I think the best and quickest way to hem without one is use a triple zig zag stitch.   It's quick and the hem lays nice and flat.  I've never had good results with a twin needle.  And they're quite expensive.
