pattern suggestion for some

Having had a wonderful day at the quilting show in Glasgow at the weekend, I did come back with some fabric (which I told myself I wouldn't).  It looks and feels lovely but I am now stuck for what to make with it.  The 2 colours match really well, but I only got 1 metre of the patterned one, and 3 of the olive coloured one.  I am still trying to work out how to buy fabrics that look good on me, as well as on the roll when I buy them!

Here are a few ideas.

I like the look, but I am not sure if is the image I like more than the dress.  One where the sun always shines and I spend my days wondering through fields harvesting crops and picking flowers.  I love in Scotland, so it isn't a very Scottish image of gardening in the rain and cold, but in the warmer months, if it looked okay, I might find it useful to have some kind of work overall dress so that all my clothes stay cleanish.

Anyway, any tips on what I could do with the fabric, or any suitable patterns out there?

You mean the sun doesn't always shine in Scotland?  :o

Would Simplicity 1080  or 8186 be the right sort of look?

I like this pattern. Jenni Smith was on the Sewing Quarter on 5th February and you can see a youtube of her show and
they were selling washed linen in different colours to make the apron up in. It looks far better if you can actually see Jenni
on air making it up.  You could make it up in the olive green fabric and use the flowery one to make a small top to wear under it perhaps?

You can see Jenni at around 11.47mins into the programme here.

I've recently bought this pattern but not had chance to make it up yet. Think your olive fabric would look good with this too if you want a casual type dress.

I love your choice of fabrics.

Great patterns and lovely ideas.  I do have the pattern for the Simplicity 1080, and I made a dress with it n grey and it just hasn't worked too well.  I am not sure if it is the colour or the material though.  The uniform for Cordia, the company who employ carers in the community, has a grey overall with yellow trim and so when I made it, I looked like I was a carer and don't feel I can wear it in Glasgow!  I think 1080 looks better in floral than plain, but I will try and make it again in something else first to see if it is the style or the fabric that doesn't suit me.

I do like the grainline pattern.  I am so used to living in jersey and I know the sort of jersey dresses that suit me, I am just less sure with woven, especially when it might turn out looking like I am wearing a sack.

@rowe1311 see my diary for a picture of this dress made up

Yes, that's a good idea because that is why I decided to buy the pattern in the first place :)

I think I am going to try it with this pattern as I already have simplicity 1609 https://www.simplicitynewlook.com/1609  I am hoping it will look okay as a shift dress, but I am not sure how to add the patterned print, perhaps just a bit of binding?

I also like this style.
https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/291678513360937267/, if it could stretch to two dresses.  It is a very simple dress, and I like the apron style with the big arm holes, but also that the bum is covered.  It must be an easy pattern to replicate, but I wouldn't know where to start. Any ideas?
