Sticking pdf patterns together - help!
« on: May 16, 2018, 11:16:47 AM »
50 A4 sheets of the damn things!!  There didn't seem to be an option to print to A3  :(

How do I overlap them?  There seems to be a border on all edges, so do I need to cut two edges off each sheet as I can't see through the paper?

50 sheets...

50...

WTF was I thinking???

Bodge, I tend to trim the bottom and right edge, and lay them out a row at a time.

You're right though, it is a right Royal PITA.

Why they don't give an option for A3 I don't know, so many of us have A3 printers now.

Thanks  b15erk, I'll get trimming - all 50 sheets...

Sellotape or glue stick do you reckon?

I sellotape, and then if I'm feeling virtuous, I trace onto good paper - but most often I don't feel virtuous (unless I need to make alterations)!  Life is far too short!

Some companies do 'trimless' pdfs, but not enough of them!  If it looks as though you need to trim them you almost certainly do.

I do agree about A3 - I bought my A3 printer more for stained glass patterns than sewing patterns, but I was really surprised to find out how few companies offered their patterns in A3.
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

Thanks for the tip of "cut as you go", Fran, and the masking tape  :)
I've still not started yet...

I tried to make a start, but my paper cutter isn't long enough.  Amazon, here I come...

I basically have used Fran’s method, but with clear tape, very successfully. However, after reading Itch to Stich’s method of cutting off the corners, I have stopped trimming edges and started trimming corners. Everything else about my process remains the same.

Itch to Stitch blog post on assembling patterns.
