My Singer 201 is 7.75 inches x 5.5 inches so a little higher but only marginally wider.

That does look interesting @Snowgoose

Except that the first unit starts with the 'D' word.

The dreaded 'D' word - Design  :S

Thank you both :flower: I won't be able to get my machine until later in the year, and I think I'll add this course to the 'saving for' kitty  :) Something lovely to look forward to during the dark Winter days  8)

Now which colour to save for, decisions, decisions  :D

Thanks @Acorn , it looks as if my Bernina has the same harp size as your new Toyota.

Can I have an update on what you think of this machine @Acorn  I have been interested in this ever since I first saw it, I really don’t need another machine but I am sure you all knowing what I mean and Hobbycraft have it back in stock at a good price

@Celia  I am largely very pleased with it indeed.  It is very user friendly and solid.  Much quieter than my (more expensive) other machines for straightforward sewing.

I have had some issues with skipped stitches, although I have just spent the morning sewing on polycotton and not had a single skipped stitch.  I discovered that the reel of thread goes the other way up to my other machines, and that dramatically reduced the number of skipped stitches when I was sewing on lawn, so I'm hoping that's been sorted now.  I know that @Francesca didn't have skipped stitch problems when she was using one.

I haven't done anything other than a bit of playing with the variable width free motion embroidery, but I think it could be great fun.

One minor gripe - it doesn't come with a second spool pin, so until I get one I can't use a twin needle on it, and I am very interested in the quality of twin needle stitching since both of my other main machines are very temperamental with them.  I find this odd, because mine (the quilt version) came with a very impressive set of extra feet.

I'd say it was clever, well-made and easy to use.  And, of course, it is gorgeous.
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

@Acorn thank you for the info, I am still trying to resist, I really Don’t need a new machine, if I keep repeating it enough it might work.

12 layers do denim, WOW, I've never tried it but I suspect my industrial machine might struggle with that.  It's a fabulous looking machine

I've sewn 12 layers of denim - just to see if it would do it - on the older 201.  It did, without complaint, but there's denim and there's denim; the stuff I had was fairly lightweight.
