Trouser fitting question
« on: May 25, 2018, 13:04:32 PM »
Hi all.  I have recently finished a pair of culottes in a soft linen/cotton mix and the fit is amazing on me.  I'm so shocked as I usually have to add/subtract cm, lower the bum, take out wrinkles, shorten this and that etc etc.  I was wondering if I could just use the crotch and tum fitting part of the pattern to make an entirely different silhouette, i.e. a straight trouser? Because the culottes have a wide leg I was assuming that the good fit at the back was due to the excess of fabric under the seat but is that the case?  If I wanted to change to a plain trouser fit would it work?

I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

The crutch shape on culottes is quite different from trousers.  Culottes are basically skirts with a crutch seam.

Ah thanks, Ohsewsimple.  That's exactly what I was wondering.  Pooh.  Back to the drawing board then  ;)

I’ve given up on trousers after decades of trying to get a good fit.
