Guess who just dropped a needle through the needle plate into the guts of her machine? Stupid move of the day award goes to me.

After searching for a while with a torch and a pair of tweezers, I gave up and turned the whole thing upside down and shook it. No good. I could hear the needle rattling about but it wasn't coming out. Ultimately I had to take off the bottom plate and give it another shake for the wee sod to fall out.

Still, it gave me an opportunity to de-fluff it properly, from an angle I don't normally get to see (from the underneath up). Surprisingly, it wasn't too bad. I guess being fairly disciplined about vacuuming it regularly pays off! The base plate had some ancient fibres and fluff adhered to it, but other than that, it was pretty clean. I'm gobsmacked as it gets used a LOT.
