Hello everyone
« on: June 03, 2018, 08:50:19 AM »
I’m rediscovering the pleasures of sewing after a long break and am enjoying reading about everyone’s activities on TSP. I used to make clothes for my children and some things for myself. Funnily enough it was my daughter (now an adult but with no interest in sewing :() that got me back making again as she qualified our dog for a class at Crufts and wanted an outfit which I foolishly volunteered to make! Well it turned out that I hadn’t forgotten everything but was just a little rusty and the outfit was successful.
Since then I’ve made three tops for myself, all of which I have actually worn and credit is owed to TSP as I have found so many ideas and links to fabrics & patterns posted on here by all of you :)

Welcome.  So pleased we have helped with your recent return to sewing.  Pull up a chair and have a look around.

You're in the right place, LK901! There are several of us 'returners' on here. It's a huge help, lots of friendly advice and sewing companionship.

Welcome.  I thought you made an outfit for your daughter to wear to Crufts but does everyone think it was for the dog?
I once made a high viz jacket for a dog that frequented a council yard because all employees had to wear high viz.
Life's too short for ironing.

Thank you for your warm welcome.
I have attached a photo of my DD (and our  :woof:) wearing the outfit that got me sewing again - yes the outfit was for my DD not the dog lol!
DD wanted a tweed/country style skirt but is allergic to wool, a staple in most country style outfits, hence the need for Mum and so I bought a polyester herringbone tweed effect fabric for the skirt and downloaded a pdf from the sew-so-easy website (a first for me as last time I was sewing we were still using dial-up for an internet connection and it was SLOW). The shirt was also a downloaded pdf and is a fabric with country scenes.
Fortunately it all fitted well and didn’t do anything embarrassing like coming apart mid-run!
Now I’m finding ordering fabric on-line & buying pdfs is just too easy and I’m already building up a new stash when my aim was to use up my old stash. I think I need to spend less time on the pc & more sewing :)

Very nice indeed!  Also very appropriate for the occasion.

Is that a red rosette in your daughter's hands?

Should I confess that I thought you had made an outfit for the dog or shall I pretend that I knew that the outfit was for your daughter?   :|

@SkoutSews yes it is a red rosette, I think the blouse & skirt will now be considered a lucky outfit!

@Pearl I’ve reread my first post and I can see why you all might have thought that, definitely my fault - I should have used an Oxford Comma after the word Crufts to make the meaning clear  :D  :D
