When your fitting adjustments have been made, you double check that seam lines and notches and joins match so that you don't pull the balance off.

Thanks Morgan.  I've bookmarked the armhole balance article in particular.  After an FBA and narrow back adjustment, the armhole (should that be armscye?) on my garments often looks like a dog's dinner and I have difficulty getting a good result setting in the sleeve.
