Graduation dress in lace

I thought you might like to see a pic of the dress I made my daughter, for her graduation. She chose the pattern and I made it in navy lace with a heave crepe back satin skirt and a nude bodice underlay.

She's a dream to fit, petite but perfectly proportioned.

This is Vogue 1428, which is described as challenging, but was in fact pretty straightforward to sew.

Oh I love lace dresses!  How lovely she looks!

Jessie, who is very happy to be here!!  :),  but who has far too many sewing machines to be healthy, and a fabric stash which is becoming embarrassing.

That's lovely, @Magimum!  How nice that she wanted you to make her such a special dress.

Lovely dress and she looks so elegant. I think your bodice looks much better than the one on the pattern picture.

Beautiful.
I`m surprised to see how much graduation dresses have changed recently.  When my daughter graduated about 10 years ago they had strict instructions to wear a plain dark skirt and white blouse.  Posh frocks were reserved for the End-of-Uni Ball

@Magimum: the dress turned out very well and your daughter looks lovely.  I like her shoes, too, so different from the sky high heels favoured by many of her contemporaries.

It's a lovely dress, the style and colour are great and she really looks like she feels really good in it - rightly so.

One you'll both remember I'm sure.  :D
Hopefully back more regularly! Ballroom sewing may be permanently paused but bag making is the current focus.
