Well, encouraged by you lot,  ;)  I've just ordered some pink crepe jersey, some royal blue viscose jersey, some black stretch trouser fabric and some funky black and pink heavy poly-cotton and also some samples of rather expensive dupion silk in royal and hot pink.  Hopefully a couple of them will be the right colours to go with the jacket.

Any of the plain colours I  think. The patterned one would fight with it.

I'm voting pink. A bright pink shift type dress underneath that jacket would look amazing.

Me too, I also like the texture of the pink fabric

It depends what the pink is like in reality.  There's fuschia pink and there's fuschia pink.  There's hot pink and there's hot pink, and a lot of them lean towards orange rather than purple.

Same with the blues, some lean towards green, others lean towards purple and if it's not right it screams. :S

I think a lighter colour would look good with the jacket.

I have seen these and although they may not be the type of fabric you are looking for I thought the colour was quite good to go with the jacket (that's if you are still looking for anymore fabrics).

If you already have bought the fabric then my vote goes for your pink fabric too. Although I prefer a solid colour rather than one with texture on it.

Just my opinion. Difficult isn't it to work out colours over the internet.

I quite like the look of the stretch cotton from Minerva, so if none of what is already ordered looks right with the jacket I will give that a try.

@BrendaP the cotton sateen I got from Minerva for the Mondrian dress project is of excellent quality:

My fabric parcel has arrived 0_0

The blue isn't a good match and really it's tee shirt type fabric which doesn't go well with a silk jacket.  The pink really doesn't go with the pinks in the jacket and the pink in the patterned fabric is much like the plain one, and the pattern clashes.

The plain black is OK, and the sample of pink silk looks good, but it is @22.45 per metre, 137cm wide.

Decisions!

what would you like to wear with it? Do you like a lot of colour? Or one coloured things with other neutral pieces?
I'd probably wear it with a black column and some great jewellery, but its what you would like that matters.

This competition was my idea as I recall so obviously I must participate.  I've not been sewing much recently as I'm too hot and lethargic.   The 100F+ days start getting to me around this time of the year.  AC only helps so much because one has to have it at a reasonable level or the electric bills will be out of control.

I'll be gone most of the rest of the month in Alaska and Oregon with one weekend here between the two trips so probably won't start sewing until September.

Yes I like colour - plain black would be 'easy' but I wouldn't be happy with just black if the jacket was taken off.

The jacket has a strong pattern so whatever is underneath probably needs to be plain or plainish in colour.  It's also fairly 'dressy' so a casual tee shirt wouldn't be right.  I think maybe a bright pink blouse and black skirt or trousers.  The pink silk sample is a good match colourwise (and MyFabrics sell by the tenth of a metre, so not necessary to over-order).  But, I'm still not decided about the blouse style.

This is the green/aqua version of the same jacket.  The model is wearing plain black under it.

Maybe I should just go with black and look for matching pink accessories.  Probably even harder to match colourwise.

In an ideal world I would have a shift dress in the shocking pink silk.
I don't know how ideal your world is @BrendaP but I don't think I'd ever get a shift dress to fit me and the silk would be a bit expensive...but soooo worth it.  :loveit:

The compromise is that I've ordered a short length of the pink silk to make a shift top.  Probably New Look 6163

and use the black, currently being pre-washed, to make some smart trousers.

Meanwhile I'm trying to think of what to do with those other fabrics, other than letting them mature in the stash.
