Last skirt

The green is darker.  I made long ties, which are pieced together and, finished the hem with top stitched bias binding.

I now need to buy the smallest case that will fit these three skirts, the three tops, underwear (3 bras and 3 knickers) a pair of shoes, the Birkenstock sliders, and a shortie nightie.  The small things will go in my hand luggage.

Fabulous @UttaRetch. The binding is perfect. TKMaxx is good for a big variety of good quality and reasonably priced luggage if you are near a branch.

I have been eyeing up TK Maxx, but there are several places where I live that are cheaper, including a newly opened luggage shop in the centre right opposite them.  I just need to get something that will catch my eye on the roundabout.

Lovely skirts UttaRetch.  Now why get the smallest suitcase, get one that will give you a little more room, as you know you are just going to find some lovely fabrics in New York, and then they can all travel home happily without getting crushed. The way they sew hems over there is very different, it is like a long length of lace specially made for sewing up hems, so very thin and very neat and seems to come in all colours on a card.  You just machine one edge to the actual hem, turn the hem up and had catch the other side of the lace to the garment.  We have nothing like that over here.  By the way how did the house hunt go last week?

This is very much a budget trip and I had no plans for fabric shopping.  However, I have just remembered kasha lining, which you can't buy here.  I have several coat patterns and have been promising myself a new winter coat for a few years now.  Could this year be the one I finally do so?

I made an offer on a small one bed flat in Clapham, which was initially rejected.  However, the vendor's agent called me earlier today to ask if the offer still stands.  Seems as if no one else is interested.  I need to see the flat again so that I can decide if it's really location, location, location or should I be pragmatic and look for something bigger in a backwater.

The skirts are beautiful and don't support your claim not to be any good at sewing. You'll look lovely in them. Is it tomorrow you're going (can't remember what date you said)? If so, have lovely time and use the distance to sort out your mind as to where you want to live.

I fly out on Sunday.

Went to TK Maxx to reconnitre some cases - don't want to pay their prices - but it seems I need a bigger case than I think. :(  Public transport is so awful for travelling and I don't want to be bumping a large, awkward case up and down stairs nor do I want a large 'hand luggage' bag.  Need to get down to the essentials.

I could borrow from my brother, but I might as well get one now as I plan to go to Canada next year.

The cases that you can either pull along behind you or you can propel along upright (I'm not explaining this well but you know what I mean, I'm sure!) are good. We got a new medium sized case (from TKMaxx) recently and it's easier to manoeuvre because of that. It's also quite a bit lighter than our old case so that helps with moving it about (and with weight restrictions for hold luggage as I accidentally bought some fabric on holiday  ).
