1718 Quilt
« on: August 11, 2018, 22:05:06 PM »
Those of you who went to this years Festival of Quilts might have seen the quilt, dated 1718.

In 2015 I made a copy of this quilt, using Susan Briscoe's book of instructions.

I think I was the first person to complete a copy of the quilt using her book.

I thought you might like to see my effort. It was the first (and only) large quilt I have ever made.

I decided to not display it at The FOQ.

Stunning work @Fajita:flower: :flower: I saw the book, plus the fabric for making the quilt, advertised on Sewing Quarter this morning. They showed lots of close-ups of the quilt and I was amazed at how much work had gone into it.

@Iminei this was done in the early days of my quilting life. I basically had no idea what I was doing. There's a lot of crude applique going on, and if you look closely towards thee bottom left you can see horizontal green lines, fillers, where my sizing didn't match up. It looks ok from a distance

Oh wow @Fajita, I saw the original yes but yours is fantastic. There was a book in last months Today's Quilter about the original and photos too of some of the ones made as a tribute, yours is just as good if not better as the tributes.
