Third for me, which is unusual as I normally need an order of some sort ...

but I like the lighter fabrics which look to be forming a chain wiggling across the quilt.

Love Wrenkies observation....

The first one looks like little astronauts, the second looks like rows of beach huts

That's why I really struggle with "random". I have to make order from chaos.  :S

It was really hard for me to do the random one, I jumbled them all up in a pile after version 2 and laid them out without paying attention. Two of the lighter ones have a yellowy tinge that isn't in any of the others, them and the lone stripey mistake leap out at me in the ordered designs as wrong.

Next play will be on Tues when the little darlings are at school (finally!)

So 6 months on and I've revisited the Aldi quilt.

I went random and it evolved as I went. I'd packed it away with the little blocks pinned in twos so sewed them together and laid them out on the floor making sure no colours met. Repeat several times and this is the result. 53"x63".

Next to do a border of the plain and then possibly one of the patterns. Not sure how to do that just yet. Or the width. I put the strips around to see how much I had left.
