Not sure that I'd like to live with them either. 

More to the point is the work applique? embroidery? or painted fabric?  I couldn't tell, though the place mats are definitely photgraphic reproductions of textile.

Certainly amazing skill but I really don't think I'd fancy sitting on that spider chair, or even having it within eye sight! Looks too real!
